Discover the world of energy at the foot of one of the largest dams in Europe!
The history and landscape of Provence were transformed by the construction of this gigantic dam and the 250 km of canals that now irrigate the region. How did it happen? Find out by visiting the Espace EDF Odysselec Maison de l'eau et des énergies de Serre-Ponçon, a vast area of fun, interactive and educational information. A free and unique site to visit at the foot of one of the largest dams in Europe! In the heart of a large EDF industrial site, to learn all about hydroelectricity and renewable energy.
The operation of power stations, energy professions or uses of water... So many subjects to discover through playful modules, archive photos, film screenings, etc...
5 visit experiences are proposed:
- The 200 m² exhibition area where interactive modules, touch screens and videos tell the story of the energy epic. Relive the construction of the dam and the Durance canal. The interactive exhibition Superlatif, the industrial adventure of the century, 30 giant photos of the human epic that was the construction of Serre-Ponçon. Striking images of the construction site of all records for which all superlatives were used, hence its nickname of "construction site of the century". Take your smartphone and flash the QrCode to discover additional content: period videos, unpublished photos...
- The visit of the engine room of the underground power station to discover the behind-the-scenes operation of this electrical cathedral! Prior booking required
- An outdoor trail to observe the local biodiversity and the surrounding landscapes. Signs punctuate your walk in this exceptional natural setting.
- The belvedere, a space specially fitted out to offer one of the most beautiful views of the dam and the lake.
TO VISIT THE SERRE-PONÇON POWER PLANT
The power plant is an industrial site, the visit is subject to conditions of access with no exemption possible:
- Prior registration is compulsory (04 92 54 58 11 or visites-upm@edf.fr) and is subject to availability
- children accepted from 12 years old,
- valid national identity card or passport for adults and minors (not accepted: driving licence, title or residence permit),
- closed shoes without heel for all (type of trainers or hiking),
- visit of the power station not adapted to people with reduced mobility."
